The trick is that every copy helps and complicates things. A Medic keeps you alive, a Mechanic speeds repairs, an Academic pushes research, but they argue, sulk, or spiral if you ignore their needs. Managing that mood soup is the game.
Runs outside the crawler start small, then snowball. You watch the clock, detour for a rare vein, and a storm rolls in. Visibility drops, hazard ticks climb, and that extra crate suddenly looks like hubris. The tension works because the base is not busywork.
