1666: Amsterdam
1666: Amsterdam enters Early Access on August 25, 2026, for PC. Developed and published by Panache Digital Games, this third-person dark action-adventure follows Noa Brooklyn, the Collector, through Amsterdam in 1666. Ancient beings known as the Originals have lived among ordinary citizens for centuries, hiding behind human faces and abusing powers Noa believes must be reclaimed. Players investigate the city during the day, identify and mark targets, then confront their true forms during the Esbat at night using witchcraft, inherited abilities, careful preparation, and different approaches to each supernatural hunt.

Review

1666: Amsterdam structures its supernatural hunting around information rather than immediately sending Noa into combat. Daytime exploration is used to study the city, identify suspects, investigate clues, and determine which residents may actually be Originals. That preparation feeds directly into what happens when night arrives.
The Esbat provides the more aggressive half of the loop. Once a target has been identified and marked, Noa can confront its true form using witchcraft and abilities inherited through generations of Collectors. Encounters are designed to support several approaches, so timing and preparation should matter alongside direct execution.
Amsterdam itself is an important part of the system. Handcrafted streets, period architecture, canals, façades, and gablestones hide information rather than functioning only as historical decoration. The contrast between ordinary daylight and the supernatural city beneath it gives revisiting familiar locations a practical purpose.
The protagonist also has a specific role rather than behaving like a generic monster hunter. Noa was raised to collect powers from beings who have held them for centuries, making each confrontation part of a larger personal and historical conflict.
Early Access is the biggest caveat. Panache plans to release the story in chapters across roughly a year, meaning the August version is intentionally incomplete. The required hardware is also unusually demanding, with hardware ray tracing and an SSD listed even at minimum settings.
Verdict: A promising supernatural investigation game that makes hunting its demons a process of observation, preparation, and confrontation rather than continuous combat.
