Review
EA SPORTS FC 27 continues to serve several different football audiences inside one package. Traditional 11v11 matches remain the foundation, while Career, Football Ultimate Team, local competition, online modes, and The Grounds each provide a separate style of progression.
The Grounds is the main structural addition. Its football-playground format creates a social space built around shorter matches, player expression, Crews, and progression away from formal stadium competition. Its long-term value will depend on matchmaking quality and whether rewards remain connected to enjoyable play rather than repetitive tasks.
On the pitch, EA is again emphasizing responsiveness and greater player control. Adjustments to turning, passing, defensive positioning, and physical interactions may sound smaller than a new mode, but these details usually determine whether competitive matches feel fair. Career adds dynamic overall-rating boosts, challenges, improved scouting options, and more tools for custom scenarios.
Ultimate Team still offers the deepest collection and squad-building loop, but it remains tied to FC Points, Premium Passes, randomized items, and an expensive edition structure. The Ultimate Plus package in particular places a large part of its value on recurring digital rewards.
Broad platform support is welcome, although older hardware may not receive the same visual or gameplay improvements as PC and current-generation consoles. Reliance on the EA app, online activation, kernel-level anti-cheat, and an internet connection also adds friction to the PC version.
Verdict: A broad football package with potentially useful control refinements and an important new social mode, but one still burdened by aggressive seasonal monetization and online requirements.
