Screamer
Screamer releases March 26, 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Developed and published by Milestone S.r.l., it’s an arcade racer built around aggression, with fighting mechanics baked into the racing itself and a story-driven setup in an anime-styled dystopian city. The pitch is simple: every race is treated like a personal grudge match, so winning is as much about timing hits and managing pressure as it is about clean lines.

Review
Screamer looks like Milestone trying to drag arcade racing back toward the loud, messy, fist-in-the-air energy it used to have. The big idea is combat that isn’t a side mode. It’s part of how you race. That changes the feel immediately. Instead of protecting a perfect line, you’re managing space like it’s a fight: baiting, blocking, pushing, and picking the moment to get mean.
When that design works, it can be addictive. Racing games often flatten into routine once you learn the tracks. A combat layer can keep the same circuit tense because the real variable becomes people, not corners. The risk, of course, is balance. If the fighting tools are too strong, races become a pile-up generator. If they’re too weak, they’re just visual noise.
The anime-dystopia framing and story focus are an interesting choice for a genre that usually treats narrative as garnish. If the campaign is paced well, it could give the game a sense of forward motion beyond unlocking faster cars. Still, story-heavy racers sometimes struggle to keep momentum between cutscenes and repeats, and a heavy style can become tiring if the writing doesn’t land.
Verdict: A bold arcade racer that wants every lap to feel like a duel, with its long-term appeal riding on how well it balances speed, combat, and progression.
