Review
Dune: Awakening works because the desert never stops poking you. You pick a route, feel the wind shift, and suddenly you are eyeing shelter while your pack rattles with contraband spice. Traversal feels good. Sandboards, thumpers, and the first ornithopter flight flip the vibe from survival to swagger for a minute. Then a worm breaches and you remember where you are.
Progression ties cleanly into the fiction. Blueprints and territory control push you toward riskier runs, and the social layer adds spice to the grind. Clans fight over harvest sites, smugglers undercut markets, and a bad deal can make the next hour rough. Combat is readable if plain at first, but builds and gadgets open it up. The sound mix does heavy lifting: engines whine, storms chew the horizon, worms roar like a cliff collapsing.
There are caveats. UI layers stack up, and some menus bury useful toggles. Balance is a moving target, especially around PvP hotspots and late‑game harvest events. On mid‑range PCs, crowded fights and sandstorms can nudge frames down unless you use upscalers. Still, when a convoy threads a canyon at dusk and a worm shadow climbs the dune behind you, it clicks.
Verdict: survival with style, demanding in spots but easy to get hooked on.
