Heroes carry your identity. Skill trees lean into specialties and open spells and abilities that create real asymmetry, and artifacts still allow for dramatic power spikes if you pivot a build. Battles are clean at a glance, then crunchy when you zoom in. Facing, retaliation rules, and active abilities make every turn a risk‑reward puzzle, and unit roles are distinct enough to survive balance patches.

The demo suggests strong pacing. Early weeks emphasize scouting and expansion, midgame pushes map control with sieges and hero duels, and late fights pop thanks to faction mechanics that are expressive without bloat. Two caveats.
