Review
Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter keeps the emotional focus of Estelle’s search for Joshua while substantially modernizing how players move through Liberl and fight its enemies. The remake retains party-based RPG systems but expands the faster Quick Battle layer with Brave Rush, letting characters link attacks before more demanding encounters shift into command-based combat.
Crafts and S-Crafts give each party member a distinct role, while the orbment system remains the foundation for Arts and character customization. New playable allies broaden party construction without discarding the recognizable strengths of returning characters.
The story remains the main attraction. Ouroboros is no longer operating quietly in the background, and Estelle’s personal search gradually becomes tied to a much larger crisis involving Liberl and the mysteries introduced in the first chapter. Carry-over data from 1st Chapter also grants bonus items, rewarding players continuing directly from the previous remake.
Fishing, poker, cooking, side quests, and additional character interactions give the journey useful breaks between major story events. The rebuilt environments and full English and Japanese voice acting make those quieter moments considerably more expressive.
Its size remains a commitment, especially for anyone entering without completing 1st Chapter. The combat also needs to balance its faster options carefully so that Quick Battles do not trivialize regular encounters.
