Slay the Spire 2
Slay the Spire 2 targets March 2026 on PC (Steam, Early Access). Developed and published by Mega Crit. It brings the roguelike deckbuilder back with returning heroes and new faces, fresh relics, and acts that branch into different zones with their own enemies and bosses. You build a deck on the fly, gamble on events, and stack relic synergies until a run either snowballs or burns out. Same climb, new wrinkles.

Review

Slay the Spire 2 leans into what made the first game stick, then adds more texture to each act. The flow is familiar: pick a route, weigh fights against campfires and shops, and let card choices nudge your build. Changes show up in the edges. Zones within an act shift enemy patterns and event pools, so a safe plan can tilt fast. Bosses push cleaner checks on fundamentals like card economy and scaling, and event text hides more pointed risks and payoffs.
On the table, the deck math still sings. Drafting a plan around a rare card is tempting, but the best runs come from humble picks that fit a curve. Draw power and energy tricks feel stronger when fights run long, while block engines and poison lines still carry if you manage pacing. Relics pull weight, often in quieter ways that reward pathing instead of pure luck. The new character kits, from necromancy loops to stance‑like toggles, push you to rethink old heuristics.
There are caveats. Early Access means balance swings and content gaps, and RNG can still hand you a lonely rare that never gels. Some encounters flood the board, reading messy until you learn the tells. On PC, Steam lists specs as TBD, so performance targets are unknown. Even so, the core loop is intact. Plan lightly, pivot hard, and enjoy when a modest deck spikes at the perfect moment.
Verdict: thoughtful iteration on a great formula, built to eat evenings all over again.
