The Spell Brigade nails the part most co-op “bullet heaven” games miss: it feels social, not just multiplayer. The core loop is familiar, move, melt mobs, pick upgrades, spiral into ridiculous power, but the friendly fire rule changes the mood. Suddenly the screen isn’t just crowded with enemies. It’s crowded with your friends’ bad decisions too, and that’s where the game gets its personality. A clean run feels earned because you’re coordinating, not just stacking numbers.

Spell building is the real engine. Upgrades, elements, enchantments, and relic-style modifiers create enough room for runs to feel different, especially when the team comp shifts. The best sessions are the ones where your squad stumbles into a synergy by accident, then spends the next ten minutes trying to keep it alive. Objectives help as well. They give runs a bit of structure so it’s not always “survive until the timer ends,” and they push teams to move together instead of splitting into four solo games.

It’s not flawless. Friendly fire is funny until it isn’t, and the line between chaos and annoyance depends on tuning.
