Brutal open‑world survival where metabolism, stamina, and maintenance matter as much as bullets. You roam a 225 km² Croatian island, meet new NPCs, and juggle quests with the old loop of crafting, base work, and fights that spiral from quiet to messy fast.

Review

SCUM clicks when you respect its systems. Food, hydration, vitamins, and gear condition sit on a tight leash, and ignoring any of them turns simple trips into rescues. Fights are loud. A clean pick with a suppressed rifle buys peace, a whiffed shot wakes half a sector and you are sprinting for cover while your stamina bar begs for mercy. Vehicles change everything once tuned, but they break often enough that the map stays big.
The 1.0 pass helps pacing. NPCs add texture, quests give direction without killing sandbox play, and the island rework sharpens sightlines. Building a base still eats hours in a good way. You line approaches, test traps, and stash kits for runs that might go sideways. Servers feel healthier with more tools to tailor rulesets and nudge community flavor.
Caveats: CPU and RAM demands are heavy, shader stutter can nibble after big patches, and melee still reads clunky when desync creeps in. Even with those edges, the game sells survival with a mean grin. Learn the metabolism, fix what breaks, and try not to get greedy.
Verdict: demanding survival that punishes sloppiness and pays patience.
