Quarantine Zone: The Last Check
Quarantine Zone: The Last Check launches on November 2025 (postponed) for PC (Steam). It is developed by Brigada Games and published by Devolver Digital. You command a city checkpoint during an undead outbreak, screening civilians, allocating scarce power and medicine, piloting armed drones, and deciding who passes, who gets quarantined, and who becomes a test subject in the name of containment.

Review

The Last Check pivots the zombie fantasy into paperwork and pressure. Every face at the barrier is a risk calculation. IDs, symptoms, and scanner results never tell the whole story, so you lean on pattern recognition and gut reads while the line grows, morale dips, and power grids wobble. Systems interlock neatly. Quarters, food, and lab capacity drive who you can hold, power routing governs scanners and fences, and drone sorties buy time when a mistake turns the crowd feral. The UI is utilitarian, which works, surfacing triage data without drowning you.
Where it shines is escalation. Early shifts teach the tools. Midgame strains them, forcing you to sacrifice comfort for control, and late crises ask ugly questions about what a state is willing to do. Fail states feel legible. The game tells you why the wall fell instead of hiding the ball. Two caveats. Repetition can creep in if event variety stalls, and moral choice fatigue is real in long sessions. Performance targets are modest on the Steam page, and quick loads keep retries painless.
Verdict: tense checkpoint sim where small calls snowball into city‑wide consequences.
