Megabonk released on September 18, 2025 for PC (Steam, Windows and SteamOS + Linux). Developed and published by vedinad. It plays like a 3D survivors‑style brawler: short arenas, enemy swarms, loot that stacks into silly power, and bosses that crash the party when the timer flips. The tone is scrappy and weird, more slapstick than grim. You sprint, scoop upgrades, and push a build until the screen turns into particle soup and you either hold or fold.

Review

Megabonk understands pace. Runs start small, then spike fast as you chain loot and perks into a machine. Movement feels snappy, hit feedback is loud, and arenas give just enough space to kite without turning into circles forever. It borrows the right lessons, with a dash of Vampire Survivors in the curve and a hint of Risk of Rain 2 in the way items snowball. You see the route: secure early damage, grab a survivability perk, then gamble on a late roll that blows the doors off.
The readability helps. Enemies telegraph more than you’d expect, and boss tells are fair once you’ve seen them once. Unlocks come at a friendly clip, so new characters and mutators keep you tinkering. Presentation leans PS1‑era grunge and bright UI, which fits the messy chaos. It is the kind of game where thirty minutes vanish because “one more run” actually means three.
Caveats: auto‑targeting can betray you in crowds, pulling shots to the wrong threat at the worst moment, and heavy swarms can chew frames on mid rigs. Some runs die to greed, some to RNG, and a few to camera clutter when effects stack. Balance will keep moving with patches. Even so, the loop lands: stack power, find a line through the mess, and ride it until the clock says stop.
Verdict: scrappy, fast, and sticky, a late‑night run generator that hits.
