The Planet Crafter released on April 10, 2024 for PC (Steam, GOG). Developed and published by Miju Games, it is a first person survival sandbox about terraforming a hostile world until it can sustain life. You mine, build, and automate, then watch the sky shift from dust storms to clouds as oxygen, heat, and pressure climb. Co op lets a small crew split duties between exploration, base building, and supply lines.

Review

Terraforming sells the fantasy. Early hours are scrappy, a backpack full of iron and cobalt and not enough oxygen canisters. Soon you lay a chain of wind and solar, then drill lines, then a tidy grid of atmospheric processors that push numbers in the right direction. It is numbers with vibes. Skies brighten, water pools fill, and biomes pick up color as your spreadsheets pay off.
The loop avoids busywork with blueprints that reward milestones. New modules change the shape of builds, not just add another meter. Exploration matters because wrecks hide rare parts and little story beats that hint at a rough history here. Co op is a quiet win, since two players can keep momentum without turning the map into a mess of clutter.
There are limits. UI can feel plain and inventory shuffling still happens more than it should. Late game performance dips on sprawling bases, especially when vegetation density spikes. Even so, the rhythm of gather, place, watch the sky evolve stays strong.
Verdict: smart survival with satisfying payoff, better every time the horizon changes.
