Lords of the Fallen
Lords of the Fallen released on October 13, 2023 for PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. From Hexworks and CI Games, it splits reality in two, living realm and Umbral, and lets you flip between them to route fights or steal one more shot at a boss. Weighty weapons, risky magic, and a co‑op that finally settles into shape after updates.

Review

The appeal is the map made of two maps. You kite a patrol in the living world, slip into Umbral, and now that dead‑end has ladders and monsters that hate you more. Combat feels heavy, with a little wobble on recoveries that forces discipline. Parries are honest but not free, and ranged tools do real work if you plan around ammo.
Bosses swing between fair and wild. The best ones ask for clean positioning, not perfect reactions. Co‑op helps, especially with shared progress finally in place, and the pathing opens in satisfying chunks once you learn the lantern tricks.
Caveats: mid PCs can hitch in dense fog and some late areas spike difficulty with adds. The upgrade curve wants materials you will miss if you sprint. Still, the loop holds. Learn a route, flip the world, try again.
Verdict: moody, mean soulslike with a smart two‑world hook.
