Unravel Two
Unravel Two released on June 9, 2018 for PC (Steam), PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, then arrived on Nintendo Switch on March 22, 2019. Developed by Coldwood Interactive and published by Electronic Arts. You guide two Yarnys through coastal forests, attics, and shipyards, knotting your thread to swing, rappel, and solve physics puzzles that ask for timing more than brute force. Co‑op is local, but solo works fine: a quick swap between Yarnys turns tricky setups into little rhythm games.

Review

Unravel Two trims the fuss and focuses on motion. The thread feels dependable, so swings arc cleanly and wall hops do not chew inputs. Puzzles build from simple anchors to layered sequences where one Yarny holds tension while the other gambles on a jump. It is rarely punishing, yet the best rooms ask you to read momentum and commit. Co‑op is the sweet spot. Quiet callouts, a mistimed swing, then both of you nail the route on the next try and grin.
Presentation carries a lot of the load. Weathered planks, gull cries, a synth line that sneaks in when the sun turns, it all feels grounded without getting dour. Levels move at a brisk clip with optional challenges tucked off the main path. Checkpoints are generous, which keeps the pace from stalling when a knot goes wrong.
There are caveats. A few physics props wobble in ways that feel random, and depth cues can hide hazards in busy backgrounds. The camera occasionally crowds edges during vertical climbs. Still, the flow wins out. When a sequence clicks and both Yarnys skim across a tide pool on perfect swings, it lands.
Verdict: tidy co‑op platforming with heart, best with a partner on the couch.
