Octopath Traveler 0 is scheduled to launch on December 4, 2025 for PC via Steam and Windows, alongside versions for Nintendo Switch, the next‑gen Switch, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game reworks the mobile prequel Champions of the Continent into a full HD‑2D JRPG, with a new focus on town‑building, party recruitment and a long main story set before the original Octopath.
On the DRM side, the Steam store page clearly shows the usual “Incorporates 3rd-party DRM: Denuvo Anti-tamper” line for the PC version, on top of Steam’s own protection. Square Enix has also published a separate disclosure confirming that Octopath Traveler 0 on PC uses Denuvo’s content protection technology and that some technical files may remain on your system even after uninstalling the game. So, unlike titles where players are still guessing, Denuvo is already officially confirmed here.
For PC players, that immediately raises the usual questions: how much overhead Denuvo will add on top of the game’s Unreal Engine 4 foundation, whether performance will stay stable on mid-range rigs and handhelds like the Steam Deck, and if Square Enix plans to remove the anti-tamper layer later in the game’s life. The original Octopath Traveler eventually dropped Denuvo on PC, so some fans are hoping this prequel follows the same path after its first sales window.
If you’re planning to pick up the PC version, it’s already available for pre-purchase on Steam and showing up with early discounts on key stores like Instant Gaming, undercutting the standard price and giving you a cheaper way to secure a key ahead of release.
