Crimson Desert is only days away from release, and Pearl Abyss has made a late change that PC players always notice: Denuvo is now officially listed on Steam.
We spotted the update directly on the Steam listing. The DRM section was changed right before launch to include “Incorporates 3rd-party DRM: Denuvo Anti-tamper” — a line that wasn’t visible on the page earlier in the pre-release window. That timing is exactly why this is getting attention.
The updated notes also mention an activation limit (up to 5 different PCs within 24 hours) and a required third-party EULA. In plain terms: if you were hoping for a Steam-only DRM setup, that’s no longer the case.
Late Denuvo additions like this tend to trigger the same arguments every time. Supporters say it protects launch-week sales; critics worry about performance overhead, activation friction, and long-term preservation if the DRM stays in place for years. Either way, adding it so close to release usually amplifies the backlash, because players feel like they’re learning about it at the last moment.
For now, the key update is simple: Crimson Desert’s PC release is confirmed to ship with Denuvo at launch, and anyone deciding whether to buy on day one should factor that into the decision.
