You step in as SOE agent Harry Hawker during a shadow war in occupied France, working with the Resistance to stop a new Wunderwaffe project. The campaign pairs open maps, multiple infiltration and extraction points, and the series’ X‑ray kill cam. Axis Invasion returns for tense PvP interruptions, co‑op runs through the full story are supported, and new Propaganda missions drop you into quick stealth scenarios between major ops.

Review

Sniper Elite: Resistance trims the fat and lets setups breathe. Each level pushes you to map routes, tag patrols, and string small distractions into one clean shot. Rifles snap into place, wind and heart‑rate matter, and suppressed pistols finally feel worth carrying. The X‑ray cam is flashier, now triggering on SMGs and sidearms, but it is still best when you earn the angle rather than spam it. Co‑op helps, letting one player bait while the other breaks lines from a second perch.

The structure works because the maps give you space. Small towns, chateaus, rail yards, each with side entrances and workbenches tucked just out of sight. Propaganda missions are bite‑sized and good palette cleansers between larger tasks. PvP invasions spike tension in the right way, especially on higher difficulties where one mistake snowballs.

It is not spotless. Enemy pathing jitters in tight interiors, and alarm escalation can feel abrupt if two squads converge at once. Stealth gadgets overlap a bit, so some tools gather dust. On PC, performance is fine at 1080p on mid‑range parts, though dense particle effects and crowds can nibble at frame time. DRM and kernel‑level anti‑cheat are present on Steam, which some players will dislike. Even so, lining up a long shot after five minutes of slow crawl still hits.

Verdict: confident stealth sandboxes with punchy ballistics, a few rough AI edges but easy to recommend.
