Hell is Us
Hell is Us launched on September 4, 2025 for PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game drops you into Hadea, a war-torn land devoid of maps or quest markers—forcing you to rely on your senses, environmental cues, and NPC dialogue to find your way. You play as Rémi, a soldier returning home to search for his missing parents amid supernatural horrors called Hollow Walkers. Combat is tense and deliberate, driven by melee weapons, stamina management, and a handy drone companion. A demo dropped August 12, offering a taste of its haunting atmosphere and minimalist design.

Review

Hell is Us doesn’t guide you—it pushes you to figure things out. You stand in flooded alleys, brick ruins, or cracked tank corridors and have to listen, watch, and feel your way forward. That drives tension deeper than any waypoint ever could.
Combat cracks open seamlessly. Every swing drains stamina. Every dodge, every block counts. Your weapons don’t feel magical—just sharp, heavy, essential. Then there’s the drone: small, mechanical, but vital. It distracts enemies, shifts focus, and gives you a sliver of control in a world that wants to swallow you whole.
Exploration blends dread with discovery. You piece together your goal by overhearing NPCs—no journal, no checklist. And that fits. War hasn’t mapped your trauma. It’s jumbled. The lack of markers makes every alert whisper or shadow shift matter more.
On the downside, some of the story can feel vague. Combat loops repeat. There were moments in early hours where I wanted just a touch more clarity on what to do—or where I fit. But once you lean into that design, the world starts to breathe with purpose. Symbols feel symbolic. Fights feel personal.
Verdict: A daring, emotionally charged experience. Not for casual players, but one that rewards attention, patience, and heart.
