DREADMOOR
DREADMOOR enters Early Access on November 9, 2026, for PC. Developed by Dream Dock and published by Digital Vortex Entertainment, this first-person survival adventure sends players into the flooded Submerged Land, where fishing expeditions quickly become encounters with mutated wildlife, cursed environments, and hostile creatures. Sailing, fishing, exploration, equipment crafting, fish dissection, resource management, survival preparation, real-time combat on land and water, and increasingly dangerous expeditions form the core loop as ordinary catches are transformed into organs, bait, gear, and materials needed to travel deeper into the disaster-stricken region.

Review

DREADMOOR begins with fishing, but it is clearly not interested in being a relaxing fishing simulator. The Submerged Land is hostile, unpredictable, and filled with creatures twisted by whatever catastrophe transformed the region.
Fishing still forms the foundation of progression. Different catches provide more than money or collection entries because fish can be dissected for organs and other components used in bait, equipment, and crafting. That gives every successful trip a practical connection to preparing for the next one.
Exploration extends across both water and land. Sailing exposes players to changing threats at sea, while abandoned shorelines and flooded locations provide resources and discoveries that cannot be reached safely from the boat. Real-time attacks can interrupt routine expeditions without warning, making preparation important even during seemingly simple trips.
The atmosphere leans heavily into Lovecraftian horror. Mutated creatures, ruined landscapes, low visibility, and grotesque biological materials create constant discomfort without relying entirely on scripted scares.
Equipment progression should determine how far players can safely travel. Better gear, specialized bait, and accumulated resources gradually make deeper expeditions possible, but the survival structure means losing supplies could make an ambitious trip costly.
The main concern is repetition. Fishing and resource runs need enough environmental and creature variety to remain tense after players become familiar with the basic dangers.
Verdict: A grim survival-fishing game that turns every expedition into a risk-reward decision, combining resource gathering, body horror, exploration, and real-time combat in a genuinely hostile flooded world.
