Review
SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance feels like the series finally found a modern groove. Movement is crisp. Dashes cancel cleanly, wall runs grab without fuss, and the katana has bite. You stitch light and heavy strings, then inject Ninpo for space control. Amulets nudge style, not just stats. One build leans on aerial juggles, another on safe parries and counters. Stages stay readable, with optional routes that reward curiosity instead of punishing it.
The art sells it. Hand‑drawn frames give hits a snap, and backgrounds do small, smart storytelling. Lizardcube’s clean lines and color choices keep busy fights legible. Bosses are the test. Patterns escalate, tells are fair, and a late‑phase mistake still stings. It hits that old arcade rhythm where a retry takes seconds and a clean run feels like you learned something, not just lucked out.
Caveats: platforming in vertical rooms can hide off‑screen hazards, and one or two late levels stretch enemy health to pad runtime. The amulet system invites farming if you want a perfect loadout. On PC, performance is light, though some users report hitches when swapping monitors or alt‑tabbing mid cutscene. None of this breaks the flow. When a stage clicks, you cut through it like silk.
Verdict: sharp, stylish ninja action that respects the classics without feeling stuck in them.
