Review

GRAIN ROT combines extraction tension with deliberately unstable physics. Players enter the underground in wooden vessels that can break, become corrupted, or be replaced when the situation deteriorates. Losing a body does not always end the expedition, but every transfer creates another opportunity for the team to become separated or overwhelmed.
The procedural dungeons are designed around scavenging and uncertain escape routes. Furniture can be moved, stacked, broken, or turned into temporary defenses, giving groups improvised ways to block creatures and control narrow spaces. Tactical carpentry makes ordinary objects part of the survival system rather than simple decoration.
Cooperation appears intentionally chaotic. Teammates must carry resources, rescue trapped survivors, manage threats, and decide when the accumulated haul is valuable enough to justify returning. Physics-based movement and cursed emotes introduce comic accidents, but the extraction penalties prevent the experience from becoming completely consequence-free.
Progress continues at the Outpost between runs. Recovered materials rebuild facilities and unlock broader options, creating a visible reason to survive beyond improving personal equipment. Corruption and mutation systems may also force teams to adapt when a previously useful body begins changing in dangerous ways.
Random generation and physics can produce memorable situations, though both systems may also create unfair failures. The game will need enough dungeon events and enemy behaviors to keep repeated expeditions from becoming predictable.
Verdict: A strange and promising co-op extraction game where fragile bodies, improvised construction, and physical chaos make every underground run difficult to control.
