Find The Needle
Find The Needle enters Early Access on November 6, 2026, for PC. Developed by FindTheNeedleDev and Needless Games and published by Needless Games, this first-person automation simulator begins with an absurdly literal objective: find needles hidden inside a haystack containing roughly six million strands. Players initially dig and sort hay by hand before selling processed material, buying tools, installing conveyor belts, scanners, robotic arms, drones, balers, paper machines, and other industrial equipment. A technology tree with more than 300 upgrades gradually transforms manual searching into a large automated factory built around processing hay as efficiently as possible.

Review

Find The Needle starts with a joke and then commits surprisingly hard to the factory-simulation part of it. At first, the process is deliberately inefficient: dig through hay, move it manually, use basic tools, and hope a needle eventually appears.
Progression gradually replaces that work with machinery. Conveyor belts move material between stations, scanners search for needles, balers compress hay, robotic arms sort items, and production lines begin turning waste into products that can be sold to fund further expansion.
The technology tree is the main driver. More than 300 upgrades unlock new equipment, improve throughput, increase efficiency, and eventually create entirely new ways to process the mountain. Because late-game factories become heavily CPU-dependent, optimization is not merely cosmetic. Poor layouts can become genuine performance and production bottlenecks.
Hay itself also develops into an economy. Rather than throwing unwanted material away, players can convert it into pulp, paper, pellets, compressed bales, eco bricks, and other products. That gives every part of the pile potential value.
The strange warehouse setting provides an additional mystery. The player does not fully understand why they are there or what happens after every needle is found, adding a small narrative hook behind the automation.
The main concern is pacing. Incremental factory games can become repetitive if upgrades simply increase numbers instead of requiring new layouts or decisions.
Verdict: A deliberately ridiculous premise hiding a surprisingly serious automation game, with enough machinery, production chains, and upgrades to turn one haystack into an entire industrial obsession.
