Beast of Reincarnation
Beast of Reincarnation releases on August 3, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Developed by GAME FREAK inc. and published by Fictions, this action RPG follows Emma, an outcast known as a Sealer, and Koo, a dog afflicted by the same blight consuming Japan in the year 4026. Their journey crosses ruined cities, hostile wastelands, and forests that erupt unnaturally from the earth. Combat combines Emma’s real-time swordplay with commands issued to Koo, while skill trees, equipment, spirit stones, stealth options, ranged attacks, and captured boss powers shape how the pair fights.

Review

Beast of Reincarnation builds its combat around the relationship between Emma and Koo rather than treating the companion as background support. Emma handles direct movement, sword attacks, evasions, and positioning, while commands sent to Koo introduce a more deliberate tactical layer. Issuing those commands slows the pace of battle, creating room to select techniques without completely separating combat into turns.
That hybrid structure gives encounters a distinct rhythm. Emma can maintain pressure at close range, create distance with ranged tools, or use stealth to approach enemies more carefully. Koo’s abilities then interrupt opponents, exploit openings, and support larger combinations. Skill trees, spirit stones, equipment, and captured boss powers allow the pair to lean toward aggressive, defensive, or more calculated builds.
The world is equally important to the game’s identity. Post-apocalyptic Japan is not presented as a simple grey wasteland. Sudden forests, corrupted wildlife, abandoned structures, and enormous creatures create an environment that feels both beautiful and unstable. Emma and Koo’s quieter interactions should help balance the scale of the boss encounters.
The main caveat is that companion-based combat relies heavily on reliable artificial intelligence and clear command responses. The demanding PC specifications also suggest that stable performance may require upscaling, even at 1080p.
Verdict: A distinctive action RPG that combines responsive swordplay, tactical companion commands, and a striking vision of post-apocalyptic Japan.
