Review

Warhounds removes percentage-based hit chances in favor of visible lines of fire and physical ballistics. A clear shot is determined by positioning, obstacles, distance, and weapon behavior rather than a hidden roll that can produce an unlikely point-blank miss.
That approach places greater importance on the battlefield itself. Cover can be destroyed, higher ground creates useful angles, and cone-based overwatch allows soldiers to control specific areas. Flanking is valuable because it changes the actual shot rather than applying only an abstract accuracy bonus.
Squads combine Assault, Specialist, Sniper, Machine Gunner, and Grenadier roles. Weapons, drones, scanners, smoke, exoskeletons, and optical camouflage provide additional ways to prepare for a mission. High lethality means a poor decision can injure or remove an experienced operative before extraction.
The mobile base handles the quieter half of the campaign. Players recruit fighters, purchase equipment, manage budgets, treat injuries, gather intelligence, and build relationships with factions. Those alliances influence available contracts, gear, and support, giving strategic choices consequences outside combat.
Individual missions are designed to last roughly 25 to 40 minutes, making the campaign easier to divide into focused sessions. Adjustable difficulty can also reduce pressure for players more interested in the story and squad development.
Removing traditional hit percentages will not eliminate every frustrating outcome, especially when complex physical calculations produce results the interface fails to explain. Enemy variety will also need to remain strong across hundreds of planned battles.
Verdict: A focused tactical RPG with honest ballistics, dangerous firefights, meaningful base management, and a welcome respect for clear positioning over invisible dice rolls.
