Review
Atomfall aims for grounded tension. You move through hedgerows and half‑empty villages, ears pricked for a hiss or a click in the brush. The best bits are small: a locked garage with a note that solves a later puzzle, a barter that flips when you spot a clue, a shortcut you only see at dusk. Stealth, melee, and short bursts of gunfire all have a role. Nothing feels flashy, but the mix holds.
Quests lean on curiosity. You follow rumors, trail odd symbols, and run into people who might be spies or true believers. Choices carry light consequences, usually payoffs in routes and resources rather than morality meters. Crafting is straightforward. You patch gear, cook, and tape solutions together, then head back out. It plays like a low, steady hum that spikes when a robot patrol or a cult ambush goes wrong.
It does stumble. Enemy awareness can wobble, and some interiors repeat layouts. The map buries a few points of interest under icons, and menus stack deeper than needed. On PC, the minimum spec asks for modern baseline parts and 60 GB, which tracks once effects stack in heavy fights. Post‑launch updates add optional story chunks, but the core loop stays the same: poke, learn, survive.
Verdict: moody and modest, a solid rummage through a haunted slice of Britain.
