Lootbound releases on July 31, 2026, for PC, macOS, and Linux. Developed by ArtDock and published by Dreland Enterprises, this turn-based tactical roguelike begins each run with a lone hero who gradually recruits companions while travelling across a branching map. Route choices, dice-based risks, permanent decisions, damage types, equipment placement, item auras, and party synergies determine whether the group develops into a coherent build or collapses before reaching a final boss shaped by earlier choices.

Review

Lootbound treats inventory management as part of the combat system rather than a pause between battles. Equipment only provides value when actively worn, and many items project auras that strengthen nearby pieces. Positioning gear correctly can therefore be as important as finding a rare weapon, especially when one adjustment changes how several party members function.
Every run begins with a single hero. Companions are recruited along the route and follow the same equipment rules, forcing players to decide whether a useful item should strengthen the lead character or complete another member’s emerging build. Since choices are permanent, a weak combination cannot always be corrected later.
Turn-based battles use multiple damage types with different interactions against health and armor. Builds can focus on direct damage, armor penetration, armor destruction, exhaustion, or combinations between them. That system encourages players to adapt around the items and characters actually found rather than forcing the same preferred strategy into every run.
The branching journey also uses calculated risks and dice rolls. Players choose routes, possible rewards, and dangers without receiving complete certainty, creating tension before combat even begins. Pixel-art visuals keep battle information readable and fit the compact roguelike structure.
The heavy reliance on random recruitment, equipment, and dice results may frustrate players who prefer complete strategic control. Its success will also depend on whether unsuccessful runs still offer useful decisions rather than feeling doomed by poor early rewards.
Verdict: A thoughtful tactical roguelike where inventory placement, party construction, and permanent choices carry as much weight as the turn-based battles themselves.
