LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is trying to balance two different Batman fantasies. One is the classic LEGO loop: explore, smash things, solve light puzzles, collect everything, laugh at the jokes. The other is a more straightforward action-adventure tone, “hard-hitting combat,” a bigger Gotham, and a story that wants to feel like a best-of playlist rather than a goofy side quest.
If TT Games pulls that off, the open-world Gotham could be the star. LEGO hubs work when they feel dense with distractions, short activities, secrets, and character swaps that actually matter. Batman’s gadget kit is naturally suited to that, and Gotham is an easy playground for traversal and collectibles without feeling random. The promise of “essential Batman story” could also help pacing, because it gives the campaign a clear spine instead of purely episodic scenes.
Two gentle caveats. First, combat-forward LEGO games need clean readability. If fights become visual mush, the “hard-hitting” angle just feels noisy. Second, open-world LEGO games can drift into checklist fatigue if the activities aren’t varied enough.
