ARK 2 has a Planned Release Date: 2026 for PC (Steam). It is developed and published by Studio Wildcard. A next‑gen survival sandbox built on Unreal Engine 5, it doubles down on crafting, settlement building, and big herd behavior, with souls‑style melee, expanded mod support, and a campaign thread you can pursue between freeform expeditions.

Review

ARK 2’s pitch is ambition pointed at friction points. Third‑person combat reads cleaner, with stamina and commitment that make swings and blocks feel costly, and dinos behave like moving terrain rather than accessories. Herds migrate, carnivores hunt, and pathing pushes you to think in routes and choke points instead of circles. Building is broader, with better snapping, more pieces, and a clearer sense of structural integrity, so bases look good and work well. Mods and servers remain the lifeblood, and Studio Wildcard says the game will ship with generous hooks for both, which tracks with the first game’s long tail.
It will still live or die on tuning. ARK thrives when danger feels fair and progress, even slow, feels inevitable. If grind and upkeep squeeze too hard, the fantasy collapses. If the curve is generous, late game turns into a clown car. Story delivery is another watch item, since a capital “C” Campaign cannot crowd out the sandbox. On PC, expect modern hardware asks, and an SSD for streaming.
Verdict: big survival sequel with better combat and systems, contingent on balance.
