Review

Rayman Legends Retold has a dangerous job: remake a game that still feels good. The original was not beloved because it was huge. It worked because the timing was sharp, the levels were playful, and the musical stages understood rhythm better than many actual rhythm games. Retold can change the visuals all it wants, but it has to protect that snap above everything else.
The move into a richer 2.5D presentation makes sense as long as readability survives. Rayman levels can be wild, with enemies, collectibles, platforms, and background jokes all moving at once. The new camera depth and 3D character work could make the Glade of Dreams feel more theatrical, but the player still needs to read hazards in an instant. If the remake ever looks busier than it plays, that becomes a problem.
The added material is where Retold has room to justify itself. A new realm, more musical stages, and a retold story give returning players something beyond nicer lighting. Kung Foot returning is also a smart call, because it keeps the package social and a little stupid in the best way.
The gentle concern is that too much modernization could sand down the weirdness. Rayman works when it feels slightly handmade, slightly absurd, and always fast under the fingers. Keep that, and Retold becomes more than a preservation project.
Verdict: A smart remake pitch for one of Ubisoft’s best platformers, with success depending on whether the new look keeps the old precision clean and readable.
