Dead Space still works because the rules are plain. Cut limbs, control space, finish the job. The remake’s lighting and audio push atmosphere without smothering clarity. Stasis and kinesis feel sharper, so puzzle rooms and mid‑fight improvisation snap into place. The Ishimura’s new circuit breaker twists help reroute power in simple, mean ways: lights or life support, pick one.

Combat hits tougher on Hard, but the curve stays fair if you invest in the right rigs and node paths. Side tasks add context without bloating the route. Zero‑G movement is smoother and makes a few boss rooms sing. The suit bench loop still scratches the upgrade itch.

Caveats: performance is mostly steady, yet heavy alpha effects can nibble frames on mid GPUs, and shader stutter shows up on first boot. Texture streaming occasionally lags when sprinting between decks. None of it breaks the cadence. Walk slow, listen for vents, and never trust a quiet corridor.

Verdict: a clean, confident remake that sharpens the original’s best ideas.
