Ghost of Tsushima DIRECTOR'S CUT
Ghost of Tsushima DIRECTOR’S CUT released on May 16, 2024 for PC (Steam, Epic Games Store) after its August 20, 2021 debut on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. Developed by Sucker Punch Productions with Nixxes Software on PC, and published by PlayStation Publishing LLC. You step in as Jin Sakai during the Mongol invasion of Tsushima. The map is open, routes are yours to draw, and the Guiding Wind nudges you without robbing the thrill of finding a fox den or hidden shrine. Standoffs hit like mini duels, stealth is sharp when you plan a camp properly, and the Iki Island expansion folds in fresh enemies and more personal story beats.

Review

Ghost of Tsushima DIRECTOR’S CUT sticks because every choice has weight. Ride a ridge, watch patrols move, then decide if you cut the leader in a clean standoff or ghost the camp with chain assassinations. Combat is readable. Stance swaps matter, perfect parries open a window, and tools like smoke or kunai give just enough control when you get swarmed. Duels are the showpieces, tight arenas where timing beats gear.
Exploration carries the hours. Fox shrines, bamboo strikes, haiku spots, and hot springs create small rhythms between bigger pushes. The wind marker keeps the HUD light so the island can do the talking. Iki Island helps the pacing by mixing new enemy tricks with a sharper look at Jin’s past. On PC, the port is strong. Ultrawide, DLSS and FSR, frame generation, and unlocked framerates give room to tune. Mouse and keyboard work, though a pad still feels right.
It is not spotless. Enemy barks repeat, and a few camps reuse layouts. Shader caching on first boot can hitch until you settle settings. Legends co‑op is a good change of pace but matchmaking can be spotty in off hours. Even with those bumps, the flow holds. You read the wind, pick a route, and the next hour disappears.
Verdict: elegant open‑world stealth and swordplay, still easy to lose yourself in.
