Party Animals
Party Animals released on September 20, 2023 for PC (Steam) and Xbox One/Xbox Series X|S, then arrived on PlayStation 5 on January 23, 2025. Developed by Recreate Games and published by Source Technology. This is a competitive multiplayer brawler built on slapstick physics. Furry fighters swing, grab, and toss each other across bright arenas while items turn scraps into chaos. Online and local play cover co‑op rules and team skirmishes, and the move set is simple enough for new players to jump in, tricky enough that spacing and grips still matter.

Review

Party Animals is at its best when you stop chasing clean inputs and embrace the stumble. Every match is a small physics joke that slowly turns serious. You feint a grab, an elbow lands by accident, and someone goes sailing because a conveyor belt did you a favor. Movement has weight, so jumping carelessly gets you tossed, and holding a ledge too long invites a team dunk. Items flip tempo. A bat clears space, a crossbow picks greedy climbers, and a soda rocket turns a tight fight into slapstick.
Modes keep the pace varied. Objective maps split attention with levers and payloads, while straight brawls reward ring‑outs and crowd control. The read stays clear even when the screen gets busy, which helps newer players find a role. With friends, the game clicks fast. On random queues, good comms make the difference between a mess and a grin. Monetization leans on cosmetics, and the Friend’s Pass is a smart touch to get people in without fuss.
Caveats: chaos can overwhelm on smaller maps, and solo queueing swings from hilarious to lopsided if teams do not gel. Physics quirks sometimes decide rounds, which is the point, but not everyone will love it. Performance is fine on modest PCs; shader caches warm up after a first boot.
Verdict: loud, silly brawls with enough bite to keep a group laughing for hours.
