MIO: Memories in Orbit
MIO: Memories in Orbit releases in 2025 (postponed) for PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Developed by Douze Dixièmes and published by Focus Entertainment. You play as MIO, a nimble robot waking up inside the Vessel, a giant ship choking on rogue machinery and creeping overgrowth. Rooms loop into each other like a maze, shortcuts peel open, and every upgrade shifts how you move. Grapples, air dashes, and magnetic tricks turn dead ends into routes. The goal is simple on paper, clean the systems and learn what went wrong, but the ship keeps its secrets close.

Review

MIO: Memories in Orbit goes for readable movement and tight spaces. The Vessel feels hand built, not bloated. You push into a new wing, find a tool, then see earlier rooms in a fresh way. The platforming has bite without cheap shots. Jumps ask for commitment, grapples punish sloppy timing, and the best runs look like you drew a line through the level. Combat supports the flow instead of stopping it. Small bots harass, bigger ones telegraph enough that a calm dodge and a short combo end the fuss.
What sells it is the vibe. Cold metal, vines, flicker light, then a quiet track that only spikes when something dangerous wakes up. Audio cues help more than the HUD. A hiss tells you a vent puzzle is close. A heavy thud warns that a patrol is looping back. The map is clear and merciful, with fast travel that respects your time.
There are caveats. Early rooms reuse tiles, and a couple of puzzles lean on exact inputs that can feel touchy on a pad. The demo hints at difficulty spikes if you rush sectors out of order. On PC, specs are not final on Steam, so expect tweaks near launch. None of this breaks the loop. Explore, learn a trick, stitch a cleaner route. It clicks.
Verdict: compact, stylish metroidvania that rewards patience and clean execution.
