Review

ONE PIECE: Grand Gourmet fits Kairosoft’s management style unusually well. Instead of controlling the Straw Hats in another combat adventure, players work with Sanji to run a restaurant where progression comes from recipes, customer satisfaction, staff management, and expanding the ship itself.
Cooking begins with character ideas and available ingredients. Recipes can then be arranged into meal sets, with additional dishes discovered through exploration. Familiar foods from the series sit beside more exaggerated creations inspired by Devil Fruit powers, giving the menu a direct connection to ONE PIECE rather than treating the license as decoration.
Customization is equally important. More than 200 furniture, building, and decorative items can reshape the restaurant around themes such as Whole Cake Island or Egghead. Certain characters react positively to specific layouts and may become regular customers, linking decoration to progression instead of making it purely cosmetic.
The scale of the roster is another strength. More than 400 characters appear as staff or visitors, creating room for unusual interactions between people who rarely share scenes in the manga or anime.
The concern is depth. Kairosoft games are intentionally approachable, and players expecting detailed cooking simulation or complex economic management may find the systems light. A roster this large may also mean many characters receive only brief interactions.
Verdict: A smart use of the ONE PIECE license that turns food, familiar characters, and ship customization into a relaxed management game rather than another predictable action adaptation.
