Set in the early 1900s, you play as Lana Benton chasing the trail of her missing friend, Carole, from the strict halls of Bunny Hall to the eerie kingdom of Corolla. It looks like a classic cartoon, but the mood curdles fast. You slip between realms, sneak past predators, and use a rabbit form to squeeze through vents, bait monsters, and solve light platform puzzles. Small choices open routes and collectibles, then the story pulls you somewhere worse.

Bye Sweet Carole lives on tone and timing. Exploration is simple, but every corridor feels watched. You creep, wait on a pattern, then sprint for the next pocket of light. The rabbit shapeshift adds a clean wrinkle. It is not a win button, more like a tool for tight spaces and quick feints. Puzzles sit in the middle lane, a mix of switches, pressure reads, and clues tucked into props. The best moments stack these pieces until you stop breathing without noticing.

Presentation carries real weight. Hand drawn frames sell soft motion, then a sharp sting when something lunges. Music keeps a low hum, strings tightening when you overstay in a nook. Characters pop fast. Mr. Baesie lightens the room, the owl Velenia does the opposite, and Mr. Kyn shows up like a bad memory you cannot shake. It feels theatrical without dragging scenes out.

Caveats are fair. Stealth cones can be fussy in tight rooms, and a few chase beats lean on trial and error. The camera crowds edges in some stairwells. On PC, the minimum spec is modest, but there is no recommended list on Steam yet, so expect to tweak post launch. Even with the bumps, the flow lands: slow steps, one awful reveal, then a dash that barely works.

Verdict: a dark fairytale that sticks, small frights done right.
