Watch Dogs: Legion
Watch Dogs: Legion hit shelves on October 29, 2020 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Stadia, with next-gen versions following later. Published by Ubisoft, it pushed the series into new territory with its “play as anyone” hook. Instead of sticking to a single lead like Aiden Pearce or Marcus Holloway, you roam near-future London and recruit everyday citizens—bartenders, spies, football hooligans, even grandmas—to join the resistance. It’s a bold idea that reshapes how missions unfold, and it makes the city itself feel like the real protagonist.

Review

Watch Dogs: Legion gambles on variety over focus. Sometimes it pays off, like when a construction worker’s cargo drone lets you bypass an entire infiltration, or when an undercover agent slips through security without drawing suspicion. Other times, the lack of a defined main character leaves the narrative thin, robbing big moments of emotional punch.
London carries the weight. From Piccadilly Circus to Camden Market, landmarks and side streets feel convincing. Flying a drone over the Thames or weaving a hacked car through tight alleys gives the city energy, even if missions occasionally fall back on routine sabotage or fetch objectives.
Combat and stealth sit in the middle ground. Shooting works but feels light compared to dedicated shooters. Hacking tools—like turret takeovers or trap detonations—are where missions gain texture. Performance at launch wasn’t smooth, especially on PC, with crashes and stuttering dragging things down. Later patches improved stability, and ray tracing on stronger hardware gives London a distinct glow.
It’s uneven, but when Legion’s systems click, they create stories no script could. Recruiting a grandma assassin or watching your custom crew scrape through a fight is where the game comes alive.
Verdict: messy in execution but worth trying for the freedom it gives players in building their own resistance.
