Will ACE COMBAT 8 WINGS OF THEVE Launch With Denuvo

ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE launches on October 2, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Developed by Bandai Namco Aces, the new entry brings the long-running combat flight series back with a full campaign, large-scale aerial battles, online multiplayer, and cross-platform features.

For PC players, there is no uncertainty around the anti-tamper protection this time. Denuvo is already listed before launch.

Steam Confirms Denuvo And A Five-System Limit

The Steam page explicitly lists Denuvo Anti-Tamper as third-party DRM for ACE COMBAT 8. It also specifies a five different systems within one day machine activation limit.

That makes this a confirmed Denuvo release rather than one of the games where the protection only appears later in an EULA or through a last-minute Steam update.

The activation limit is worth keeping in mind for players who regularly switch PCs, reinstall Windows, or make major hardware changes. For someone playing from the same machine, it may rarely matter, but it is still another restriction attached to the PC release.

Easy Anti-Cheat Adds Another Layer

Denuvo is not the only low-level protection attached to ACE COMBAT 8. Steam also lists Easy Anti-Cheat as kernel-level anti-cheat software.

That makes sense given the game’s online multiplayer features, but it also means the PC build has two very different protection layers doing separate jobs. Denuvo protects the executable against tampering, while Easy Anti-Cheat is aimed at multiplayer cheating.

Even if Denuvo were eventually defeated, that would not automatically reproduce online services, crossplay, or other server-dependent features.

Hypervisor’s Future Is Suddenly Less Certain

ACE COMBAT 8 also arrives at an unusual moment for the Denuvo scene. Hypervisor bypasses became one of the biggest developments of 2026, but the group most closely associated with that wave, DenuvOwO, has reportedly stepped away following the recent legal pressure surrounding Denuvo cracking.

That does not mean the Hypervisor method has disappeared. The underlying research has already spread beyond a single group, including work that brought DenuvOwO-style bypasses to Linux. But it does make the future of new releases less predictable than it looked only a few weeks ago.

For ACE COMBAT 8, the situation is therefore straightforward at launch but much harder to predict afterward: Denuvo is confirmed, the five-system activation limit is confirmed, and Easy Anti-Cheat is also part of the PC package.

If you are planning to buy the PC version anyway, ACE COMBAT 8 is currently listed with up to 23% off on Instant Gaming, depending on the available edition and region.
