STARSEEKER: Astroneer Expeditions
STARSEEKER: Astroneer Expeditions launches in Early Access on June 11, 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Developed by System Era Softworks and published by Devolver Digital, it’s a co-op expedition game set in the Astroneer universe where the loop is less “build a cozy base” and more “get a crew, take a job, and see what goes wrong.” You operate out of the ESS Starseeker, drop into planetside missions, scavenge and craft on the fly, and try to keep momentum when weather, hazards, and whatever’s lurking out there starts turning a clean plan into a messy evacuation.

Review

STARSEEKER is trying to sharpen Astroneer’s vibe into something more run-based and social. Instead of slowly domesticating a planet, you’re jumping into expeditions with a clear objective and a clear risk: you only have so much time before something goes sideways. That structure is a good fit for co-op, because it creates natural roles. One player scouts, one manages tools and crafting, another handles navigation and triage when the environment starts biting back.
The best part of a game like this is the rhythm. A good expedition game has an early calm where you feel competent, then a middle phase where you’re improvising, then an ending that’s either a clean extraction or a panicked “grab what you can” sprint. If STARSEEKER can reliably produce that arc without feeling scripted, it’ll have strong replay value.
The risk is that co-op sandboxes can become either too safe or too chaotic. If hazards are mild, expeditions feel like errands. If hazards are random and brutal, players stop taking risks and start playing timid. The other question is progression. Players need long-term reasons to keep running missions beyond cosmetics, new tools, new ship upgrades, new expedition types, anything that changes how you approach a run.
Verdict: A promising co-op expedition spin on the Astroneer universe, with Early Access success hinging on mission variety, fair hazard tuning, and progression that keeps runs feeling meaningfully different.
