Resident Evil Requiem launches on 27 February 2026 for PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Developed and published by Capcom, this is the ninth mainline entry in the Resident Evil series. In Resident Evil 9 You play as Grace Ashcroft, an FBI analyst drawn to a hotel with dark connections to her mother’s past. It returns to Raccoon City and mixes survival horror with modern tech like path tracing, DLSS 4, and the ability to switch between first-person and third-person views.

Review

Resident Evil Requiem looks like it might be the kind of sequel that respects the old scares and pushes the tech forward. Grace Ashcroft feels like a fragile lead — not built for brute combat. You explore corridors, solve puzzles, manage supplies, and try not to expect every fight to go your way.

The return to Raccoon City hits hard. Seeing it again, years after destruction, reclaims some of the gothic horror the series used to own. The hotel she investigates feels haunted not just by monsters but by memories — subtle horror, shifting shadows, and rooms that whisper of things unseen. Scenes in first-person amplify tension; third-person gives you more room to breathe and plan.

Graphics seem top-tier. Path tracing gives lighting, reflections, and shadows more realism than anything recent in the series. DLSS 4 and frame generation edge frame-rates higher without wrecking visuals. But this means hardware will matter — expect demanding scenes with complex lighting to stress even good PCs.

Some risks remain. Switch 2 will have to do more work to keep up — fidelity might drop there. Grace’s story leans personal and emotional, which may feel slow to players craving nonstop action. Still, this slower build gives the horror weight.

Verdict: RE9, a promising return to survival horror. Requiem combines tech upgrades with genuine fear. For longtime fans, and newcomers ready to tiptoe into dread.
