Over The Top: WWI is built around one clear fantasy: war as a loud, shifting machine where the map itself refuses to stay polite. Fully destructible terrain is not just a gimmick here, it’s the point. A trench that felt safe thirty seconds ago can be torn open, a stronghold can collapse, and suddenly your team’s plan has to be rewritten in real time.

The class structure gives the chaos some shape. You are nudged toward jobs that matter, building, clearing, supporting, calling in tools that swing fights. When teams actually lean into roles, the game starts to feel like a moving frontline rather than a deathmatch with uniforms. Vehicles and heavier kit add that extra layer of spectacle, but the more interesting moments are usually smaller: winning a choke point because someone timed a push, or losing one because the cover you trusted no longer exists.

There are two gentle concerns. First, big-player shooters live and die on matchmaking quality and server stability, and this kind of destruction-heavy design leaves less room for hiccups. Second, readability can get messy when effects stack and the battlefield is already torn apart. If the game lands its netcode and keeps the chaos legible, it has a real identity. If not, it risks feeling like noise.

Verdict: A large-scale WWI shooter with a strong destruction hook and clear role design, but it will need clean technical execution to keep its best ideas from turning into clutter.
