MOUSE: P.I. For Hire launches on March 19, 2026 (postponed) for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. It is developed by Fumi Games and published by PlaySide. You play as Jack Pepper, a hard-boiled private investigator in Mouseburg, a noir city drawn like a 1930s cartoon and played like a modern FPS. The premise is a missing person case that spirals into corruption, kidnappings, and worse, with detective work and traversal layered between loud, fast firefights.

Review

Style carries this one. The rubber-hose animation sells impact without realistic gore, and the soundtrack glues scenes together with brass and percussion. Gunplay is fast and readable, with short reloads and punchy feedback, while gadgets give you goofy control tools that still serve tactical purpose. Levels lean wide enough to support flanks and stunt routes, and secrets reward curiosity with upgrades and visual gags.
Challenge spikes appear when enemy mix pushes hitscan pressure in tight rooms, and checkpoint spacing can feel old-school if you sprint greedily. Performance is generally kind, though heavy post-process can blur edges unless you tweak settings. If Fumi keeps encounters legible and set pieces varied, this can sit neatly alongside the original MOUSE with its own identity.
Verdict: A stylish, snappy noir shooter that backs its look with solid encounter design.
