Moss: The Forgotten Relic
Moss: The Forgotten Relic releases July 16, 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. Developed by Polyarc and Blackbird Interactive and published by Polyarc, it brings Quill’s storybook adventure out of VR as a complete non-VR package. Review

Moss: The Forgotten Relic works because it does not try to pretend the original VR design never existed. The diorama framing is still part of its character. You are not simply controlling Quill through levels. You are watching over a miniature world, reading rooms from a slightly removed angle, and reaching into the environment to help her move forward.
That relationship is still the best idea in Moss. Quill is small, capable, and expressive, but the game’s puzzles and combat are built around cooperation between her and the player. Moving platforms, holding enemies, spotting hidden routes, and guiding her through danger gives the adventure a tactile quality even without a headset. Bringing both Moss games together also helps pacing, because the full arc can now feel like one story instead of a split collection.
There are caveats. Some room transitions and fixed-camera setups may feel simpler outside VR, and players looking for deep combat will probably find the encounters light. But that is not really the point. Moss is at its best when it treats scale, charm, and environmental puzzle design as the main event. The new accessibility option to skip combat is a smart fit for that identity.
Verdict: A warm and carefully adapted non-VR version of Quill’s adventure, strongest when it leans into tactile puzzle design, storybook atmosphere, and the player’s bond with its tiny hero.
