Monopoly: Star Wars Heroes vs. Villains
Monopoly: Star Wars Heroes vs. Villainsreleases June 30, 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. Developed by Behaviour Interactive Inc. and published by Ubisoft, it takes the familiar MONOPOLY board and bends it into a team-based Star Wars contest where powers matter as much as properties. Players choose heroes or villains, use character abilities to disrupt rivals, and fight for control of the galaxy through a faster, more confrontational version of the classic money-and-map loop.

Review

Monopoly: Star Wars Heroes vs. Villains works best as a party-game remix, not as a strict digital board game. The most interesting change is the team-based angle. Monopoly is usually a slow war of attrition where one player quietly becomes impossible to stop. Adding sides, powers, and Star Wars character identity gives the game a chance to create sharper turns and more obvious table drama.
The character abilities are the key. If they are tuned well, they can make each match feel different without turning the board into pure chaos. A hero should feel like more than a token, and a villain should do more than look cool next to a hotel. The fun is in disruption: forcing a risky trade, breaking a plan, or using one well-timed power to swing control before the economy locks up.
The board-game foundation still brings the usual risks. Monopoly can drag, even in digital form, if pacing tools are too conservative. A Star Wars version needs to keep rounds moving and give losing players ways to stay relevant without making outcomes feel random. Online stability and readable UI also matter more than usual, because digital Monopoly dies fast when menus are slow or turns feel clunky.
Still, the concept is strong for families and casual groups. It is recognizable, easy to explain, and just different enough to avoid feeling like another reskin.
Verdict: A smart licensed twist on Monopoly that could work as a faster party game, as long as character powers add strategy without turning the board into noise.
