Review

Icarus frames survival as expeditions. Early drops are about speed: gather stone, make a knife, and get shelter up before weather rolls in. The mission structure adds urgency without killing freedom. Timers push you forward, yet route planning, cave detours, and risk‑reward choices keep sessions flexible. The Open World mode softens the pressure for players who want a long base and a relaxed tech curve. Progression is serviceable. Blueprints unlock at a steady clip, exotics feed the long tail, and workbenches make you think about sequencing rather than hoarding.
Combat and movement are readable. Predators telegraph, bows feel precise, and storms change priorities fast. The environment sells scale with thick forests, bleak tundra, and caves that hide either safety or parasites. Two caveats. The game can be grindy if you chase every unlock, and performance leans CPU‑heavy on large maps. Updates have improved balance and added biomes, though the best experience still comes from planned co‑op runs where roles are clear.
Verdict: focused survival game that turns each session into a clean, satisfying sprint.
