Review

Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game builds its combat around movement, elemental control, and character-specific pressure. Flow allows fighters to dash, evade, and reposition quickly, while Energy Points earned through skilled play enhance special moves and unlock cinematic Super Arts. The result is a fast 1v1 system that encourages active movement without abandoning deliberate spacing.
Each fighter expresses bending through a distinct playstyle. Earth users can control space and restrict movement, aggressive characters maintain close-range pressure, and faster combatants rely on mobility and precision. Three selectable support characters accompany the main fighter, adding assists that can cover weaknesses, extend attacks, or create new openings.
The launch package covers both competitive and solo play. Story Mode follows an original narrative outlined by Michael Dante DiMartino and Tim Hedrick, while Arcade Mode gives each character a separate storyline. Online play includes ranked and casual matches, lobbies, cross-play, rollback netcode, replays, and spectating. Training Mode provides frame data, visible hitboxes, and save states, which should make serious practice far easier.
Hand-drawn animation closely follows the visual language of the animated series. Elemental attacks remain expressive without becoming unreadable, and individual fighting styles reflect each character’s personality.
A 12-character launch roster is relatively compact, especially with five additional fighters reserved for the first season pass. The simple control scheme must also retain enough technical depth to satisfy experienced fighting-game players over time.
Verdict: A feature-complete Avatar fighter with strong presentation, modern online systems, and enough mechanical depth to extend beyond its familiar characters.
