Review

The remake aims to preserve tone and structure while sanding down friction. The Colony still feels hostile, with daily NPC routines and wildlife that set the rhythm of travel. Quests start small and personal, then fold into messy political arcs, and the world itself is the main dungeon, full of routes that feel earned when you finally survive them. Combat is slower and more tactical than modern action RPGs. Reads matter, stamina and poise control tempo, and weapon choices have clear identities. If the new system keeps these beats while improving responsiveness, it will click for veterans and newcomers.
Presentation leans darker, with heavier materials and lighting, and the prologue demo hints at stronger narrative framing. Two caveats. System requirements on Steam are not final beyond storage and OS, so expectations should stay flexible, and a remake lives or dies on feel. If hit feedback or animation timing misses, nostalgia will not save it. If it lands, this could be the definitive way to re‑enter the Colony.
Verdict: faithful rebuild with modern edges, poised to make a classic feel new again.
