Fatekeeper
Fatekeeper enters Early Access on June 2, 2026 on PC. Developed by Paraglacial and published by THQ Nordic, it’s a first-person action RPG that mixes melee and spellcasting with a build-forward progression loop built on relics, weapons, and playstyle-defining choices. You explore a handcrafted dark-fantasy world of ruins and caverns, hunting hidden lore and gear while fights lean on pattern reading and reactive timing rather than pure stat checks.

Review

Fatekeeper’s best pitch is its point of view. A first-person action RPG immediately changes the usual ARPG rhythm, because distance, timing, and enemy tells become harder to cheat. If you commit to melee, you’re living inside the danger. If you lean into magic, you still need space and precision, because the camera keeps you honest about what you can actually see.
The game also sounds like it wants builds to matter without drowning you in systems. Relics, spells, and gear combinations are familiar ingredients, but the interesting part is whether the choices feel distinct in play. A “build” only matters if it changes how you solve fights: how aggressive you can be, how you manage stamina or cooldown pressure, and what kinds of mistakes you can survive.
Because it’s Early Access, pacing and content density are the real concerns. A strong first-person combat loop can carry a lot, but only if enemy variety and encounter design keep evolving. Otherwise, you end up repeating the same fights with better numbers. The other concern is feel. Small issues, input response, hit feedback, animation locks, are amplified in first-person. If it’s crisp, players forgive missing story chapters. If it’s floaty, the whole foundation wobbles.
There’s still plenty to like in the premise: a focused world, a clear melee-and-magic identity, and an Early Access plan that suggests the studio is willing to iterate based on what players actually enjoy.
Verdict: A promising first-person action RPG that could stand out on combat feel alone, with Early Access success hinging on enemy variety, encounter pacing, and responsive controls.
