Review

Escape Simulator 2 clicks because interactions stay tactile and readable. You flip levers, check drawers, tip vases, and write clues in a notebook instead of hoping for a flashing marker. Co‑op adds real utility rather than gimmicks. One person tracks a cipher while another plays with a machine, and a third keeps the flow moving by spotting missed props. Builder tools are the other pillar. The new editor lifts the ceiling on community rooms, which kept the first game alive for years.
The official packs show range, from gothic castles to sci‑fi hull breaches, and they pace themselves well. Hints are optional, and the best puzzles twist just once more than you expected. It is still approachable. Most solutions want observation and a bit of logic, not brute force. Presentation is cleaner than the first game, with better lighting and physics that sell weight without turning messy.
Caveats: in public lobbies, chat noise can undercut focus, and Workshop gold will be mixed with noise early on. Expect minor stutters on a cold boot until shaders build, and late‑game rooms might ask more of your CPU in groups. Even so, the loop is strong. Touch everything, talk it out, and enjoy the moment a weird mechanism finally clicks.
Verdict: friendly, hands‑on puzzling that should thrive on co‑op and custom rooms.
