Dungeon Settlers
Dungeon Settlers enters Early Access on September 10, 2026, for PC and macOS. Developed and published by CanOpener, this dark fantasy strategy game combines colony management with dungeon exploration and real-time tactical combat. Players lead a Guild expedition into barren land corrupted by magical erosion, build bedrooms, farms, dining areas, workshops, and research facilities, recruit settlers from different races and backgrounds, prepare four-member parties, craft equipment, gather supplies, and descend into procedurally arranged dungeon regions where permanent death can remove experienced members from the settlement.

Review

Dungeon Settlers connects settlement management to the practical demands of dungeon crawling. Bedrooms, food production, workshops, storage, and research are not isolated construction goals. Each system exists to support the expedition members who will eventually leave the safety of the settlement.
Characters carry equipment, skills, talents, personality traits, backgrounds, and life-related statistics. Party building therefore involves more than choosing four combat classes. A useful recruit may also be difficult to manage outside the dungeon, while a reliable worker may lack the abilities needed for a dangerous expedition.
Combat runs in real time but can be paused whenever the player needs to issue orders. Stuns, bleeding, burning, summons, provocation, vulnerabilities, and charged attacks create opportunities for coordinated skill use. Since fallen characters do not return, retreating with valuable resources can be wiser than pushing deeper.
Dungeon layouts change between expeditions. Environmental effects, merchants, resource deposits, rare materials, and unusual encounters make every descent less predictable. The deeper floors offer better rewards but place greater pressure on food, camping supplies, equipment condition, and party health.
The Early Access version includes the complete core loop and two dungeon regions, but the developer expects development to continue for roughly two years. Recommended PC requirements are also not currently listed.
Verdict: A demanding colony and dungeon hybrid where careful preparation, party synergy, and knowing when to retreat matter more than rapid expansion.
